Pakistan defeated Australia by 7 wickets in the one-off T-20 match played at Dubai Stadium on Thursday, 07.05.2009. Younis Khan pulled out of the Pakistan team after suffering fever, leaving Misbah-ul-Haq to lead the side who won the toss and put Australia in to bat first.

ICC Decides to take APL by Horn: to Begin New T20 League

It has decided to take the bull by horn, and nip in bud its growth. Just a week after an announcement was made that a new American Premier League is set to make its debut in USA, which would feature players from Pakistan and other international players; International Cricket Council has decided to spin off a new T20 competition in USA. The APL is being promoted by the American Sports and Entertainment. It is set to make its debut in October 2009. The biggest stumbling block of the APL is that it does not have an endorsement from the ICC, and therefore is another rebel league, just like the Indian Cricket League promoted by Subhash Chandra of Zee TV.

Courtney Walsh recently spoke about his love for the game of cricket which is undimmed even at 46; so many years after retiring from international cricket. He was quoted in the cricket news as saying that cricket should not all be about the money; that pride and wanting to do well for yourself and your country should come first. He was positive about West Indian cricket which looked more focused and professional. Walsh also said that he was a fan of Windies skipper Chris Gayle.

Talks between three concerned cricket boards-that is PCB, ECB and CA have reached the advanced stage, where the three parties are on their way to work out an all-agreeable schedule for the upcoming cricket series scheduled for next summer.
