In its frantic effort to fill the void left by Matthew Hayden, cricket Australia has been experimenting with one pair of opening batsman or the other. Now they have penciled in on Phillip Hughes, who is among the seven new players who have been awarded the playing contract by Australian cricket authorities for the year 2009-10.The other players who have been awarded the contract include Callum Ferguson, Graham Manou, Peter Siddle, Andrew McDonald and Marcus North, who have been awarded their first national contracts while off-spinner Nathan Hauritz returned to the 25-player list.

How can one assure the crowd attendance during the Asian Games? Sure fire way is to accord Cricket the official status of the games in the Asian Games. It serves twin purpose, apart from ensuring the attendance of audience in the field; it would also ensure that advertisers also participate in a big way in the Asian Games.
