Australian skipper Ricky Ponting spoke in the cricket news warning England against playing ‘half fit’ Andrew Flintoff in the Ashes series later this summer. Ponting also offered covert criticism regarding the decision of some of England’s international cricket stars such as Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen to participate in the Indian Premier League which he had himself eschewed supposedly in order rest ahead of the summer.

The turmoil is finally over for Pakistani cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Mohammed Yousuf as the cricket authorities of Pakistan announced that the two can play for the national team again. The two players who had signed up for the rebel Twenty20 league, the ICL (Indian Cricket League), were barred from playing in the national team. A while ago the two cricketers pledged their loyalty to the Pakistan, but their future was still unclear as their contracts with the ICL had not yet been terminated. However the ICL has now accepted their resignations and the cricketers will soon be back on Pakistan’s international scene.

For so long cricket as a sport in the United States was just another sport, with a small fan following and an even smaller name in World cricket. But now, that is all set to change, as the USA Cricket Association announces the first and second USA All American Under-19 teams.

The Gen-X likes it for its high pace and hip hop charms. The Orthodox quarter dismisses it with the apprehension that it may some day kill the real cricket that is Test cricket. The ICC has resolved to end the dispute between old and the new and plans to keep the number of international Twenty-20 cricket ties to a limited number.

Justin Langer now plays for Somerset having retired from international cricket, but he remembers a time when the Aussies had arrived into England to play the Ashes with a lot more fanfare than they did on Thursday. Ricky Ponting and his men will be in England for some very considerable amount of time; for the T20 World Cup as well as the subsequent Ashes series.
