With the victorious series in New Zealand just being concluded, there is much hype and hoopla in the cricket news about this Indian team being the best ever Indian team in international test cricket. Even successful ex test cricketers have gone on record to say that is the best ever test side India has ever produced. Are these accolade and rave reviews really warranted though? And aren’t they a wee bit premature?

In a bid to raise £250,000 for Lord's Taverners and the Himalayan Trust UK, team Hillary and team Tenzing will take on each other in a T20 match at the Gorak Shep plateau base camp of Mount Everest. The players of the two teams that consist of doctors, lawyers and city workers will take on one another after months of training to familiarise themselves with the high altitudes and low temperatures. The T20 match will be played on 21st of this month which is the Queen’s birthday.

The Virender Sehwag – Gautam Gambhir opening combination is arguably one of the best in international cricket right now, and Sehwag was quoted in the cricket news as saying that Gambhir is the best Indian opening batsman since Sunil Gavaskar. He even rated Gambhir higher than himself as ‘much much better’ who has the ability to perform in any format of the game, saying that while Gavaskar was successful in test cricket and ODI cricket, Gambhir is successful in the T20 format as well.
